My Story

Rob Bugden is a former RAF Physical Training Instructor (PTI) & Parachute Jumping Instructor (PJI) He was also very keen sportsman with rugby & athletics being top of the list. As a distance runner he represented the RAF, Combined Services, England (every level from schools to seniors) and Great Britain at U23 & students level.

On 21st January 2016, his life changed forever. Whilst on exercise in California he was involved in parachute accident that would damage his spinal cord, rendering him tetraplegic (where all 4 limbs are affected) & paralysed from the top of the chest down. After nearly 4 years undergoing rehabilitation in various hospitals, he was medically discharged from the RAF on 31st December 2019.

Without his amazing friends & family who have & continue to support him things could be very different and some of those amazing friends & family will be taking part with Rob in his 5 For 5 challenge.

  • Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund

WE'RE AT THE HEART OF THE RAF FAMILY

For more than 100 years, the RAF Benevolent Fund has been supporting members of our RAF Family through thick and thin providing practical, emotional, and financial support whenever they need us.

  • DMRC

We are a volunteer-run charity that provides funding to support holistic, occupational and social integration opportunities for serving military patients at DMRC Stanford Hall, that are not provided by public funding.

  • Tough Enough To Care

Tough Enough To Care has been setup to raise awareness of male mental health issues and to tackle the stigma surrounding it head on. We want men of all ages to feel comfortable talking and opening up about their emotions to those close to them, instead of bottling them up until they reach breaking point.

  • Oppo

The OppO Foundation has been established to help ex-military personnel, their families and dependants on their return to civilian life.
